Design of fund-raising web site
Jan 2004
Trinity Church is an architectural landmark in Boston
undergoing extensive restoration work. Having designed their very
successful
parish web site, Trinity asked me
back to create a site for building awareness of the restoration project
and raising money.
CHALLENGE
Trinity wanted a site that users would connect to emotionally. There
were three goals: educate visitors on the historical significance
and grandeur of the building; build awareness of the scale and expense
of restoration work; make it easy to contribute.
SOLUTION
The Trinity building is so visually striking, inside and out, that
it almost sells itself. We used a lot of photography, some sepia-tinted
to evoke a historical feel, to draw visitors into the building. The
construction aspect was implied through stencil type, a blueprint-like
background grid, and the use of architectural elevation drawings.
