Site redesign
Jan 2000
Charlotte Street was a British women's interests site
from the Daily Mail newspaper in London. BaseSix Interactive, a full-service
Web agency (www.basesix.com),
was hired to redesign the site and I was the designer on the project.
CHALLENGE
The previous look-and-feel had been,
in part, designed for interactive television and didn't feel very Web-friendly.
The publisher wanted a lighter style and to promote more strongly their
discussion communities and shopping partnerships.
SOLUTION
The personality was given a facelift with more vibrant colors and clearer
navigation. Icons were used to call attention to topical discussions,
which were featured more prominently on key screens.
Unfortunately, due to company changes, the new design
was never launched and the site no longer exists.
