Visual and interface design of ecommerce site
Jan 2001

ChurchPlaza, a leading church furniture and supply company, hired BaseSix Interactive, a full-service Web agency (www.basesix.com), to design and build their ecommerce site. I was creative director on the project.

CHALLENGE
ChurchPlaza wanted to communicate their strength in church construction and remodeling, but also to reflect their unique faith-oriented niche.

They also needed a site that could be maintained economically by general admin staff, without the need for expensive, specialized programmers.

SOLUTION
The orange and black color scheme echoes Black & Decker and Home Depot to suggest construction. The arch used over the logo and in other photography is in the style of a church window. The human touch of satisfied church customers is prominent on the home page with animated testimonials.

The site was built on the Intershop ecommerce platform, and custom documentation and data import templates were created to streamline site upkeep for ChurchPlaza. (See documentation sample)

MY ROLE
I was very hands-on as creative director and did all of the screen design, the information architecture and UI prototyping, all of the production documentation, and much of the HTML template coding.
